Memphis Restaurant owner, Nick Scott, and others are going before Memphis City Council (TODAY MARCH 7) to demand solutions to the crime problems.

We are looking for a restaurant owner or GM to participate in a conference in Memphis on June 28th. NFIB is wanting someone that deals with filing unemployment insurance forms and the process/burden it places on business owners. Basically, they want to hear about your experiences with filing unemployment insurance forms if you do it yourself. If you are interested or have questions, please email me.
Under the 80/20 Tip Rule, you can only apply a tip credit to an employee if they spend at least 80% of their time in category 1, and no more than 20%, or 30 consecutive minutes, in category 2. Meanwhile, no tip credit can be applied to any work in category 3.
We now accept Moxey as payment for membership dues. If you are a Moxey member, contact us to pay your dues that way. If you are not a member, click here to find out more. Moxey is a community of thousands of business owners who support one another and, most importantly, are able to buy and sell among each other without spending cash. Instead, they use their very own community currency; Moxey dollars (barter/trade currency system). Reach out to MRA directly if you are interested in joining the Moxey community.
Our quarterly coffee clubs are specifically for non-restaurant members to network, circulate, and hobnob. Restaurant members are more than welcome to attend as well. Join us for our next one on May 4.
Looking for a job in the food industry? Have one to list?
One thing we’ve consistently heard is that there’s a great need for a local food and beverage job board—so we’ve built one! You can find it at memphisfoodjobs.com and linked from ediblememphis.com.
This platform allows local restaurants and other food businesses to connect with potential new hires without having to filter through the noise of larger job-search platforms. We’re excited to make this available and hope it’s a helpful tool.
To get the website up and running, we are once again offering our partners deep discounts on postings. EDIBLEMEMPHIS50 gives 50% off of 5 standard listings and EDIBLEFREE2 gives 100% off of 2 standard listings. Enter codes at checkout. All listings are for 30 days.
Please share this information with your industry friends and those looking to get into the industry! The MRA will also have this link in the upcoming March newsletter.

Shelby County Schools need your help!
Hoping our amazing teams in the Hotel and Restaurant industry would be interested in hosting a Hospitality and Tourism Day for our business and culinary students on March 21-22nd.
This would be a 2-day rotating event that would allow our students the opportunity to submerge themselves into their world for a couple of days.
Each student group would have no more than 25 students so as to not overwhelm the establishment. The time of their visit would be from 10 AM until 1230PM. Each group would visit a different establishment on both days. It is the hope of the experience that each host could provide lunch for their small group. This could give the students the opportunity to taste what makes each host so special.
We are truly excited to kick off this journey of opening more doors to our students so that they can experience what visitors see when they visit our great city of MEMPHIS! Link to sign up is here.
